Simon Winchester – The Professor And The Madman – A tale of murder, insanity, and the making of the Oxford English Dictionary

Tells the story of Dr W.C. Minor, an American who was declared insane after he murdered a man in England. He spent the rest of his life in an asylum and while there was a major contributor to the creation of the O.E.D. (an undertaking that took 60 years!).
An interesting story. Check it out if you are interested in history and philology.
