Ariana Franklin – Mistress of the Art of Death

Posted by Dirk under: books .

I think of this book as CSI: Dark Ages.  A psycho is killing children in Cambridge in 1171.  The local populace believe it’s ‘the Jews’ killing the kids and want to kill the Jewish population.  King Henry II is very fond of ‘his Jews’ because they bring in a lot of money for him.  He sends for a specialist to investigate these murderers and absolve the Jews.  Enter Dr. Vesuvia Adelia Rachel Ortese Aguilar of Salerno, a female and the closest thing to a forensic investigator in 1171.

I liked this book quite a bit.  Ariana Franklin does a great job with the many characters in the book.  I stayed up till 2am last night to finish it off.

There is a second book that just came out that details the further adventures of Dr. Adelia Aguilar and I look forward to reading it also.

Website for this book.
