Just got the letter in the mail reminding me that I would be getting the census form in the mail in about a week or so.

Has anyone else gotten anything yet?

no, but I would love to see how much it cost the government in postage to send out this reminder letter.

Well, they do run the post office, so I suppose they just dumped them in with the rest of the lot.

It would suck to have to lick all those stamps otherwise.   Tongue

Why would you lick a stamp? Is that some drug thing?

I hope George Louis Costanza  didn't buy those stamps Tongue  Ok so they wouldn't be envelopes used for invitations.  And I didn't know he had a middle name  Huh

Yeah me too.  I don't understand why the gov't thinks that has a point.  Bush did the same thing before the stimulus checks.  As if everyone didn't already know about it from the media saturation via internet, tv, and radio....   Roll Eyes

At least this one may have some point, you can consider it just one more piece of advertising; though the radio/tv ads have been a lot more convincing IMO than words on paper.  /shrug

I got the reminder letter.  Who ever is in charge of the census cares less about money, trees, and the air we breath then trying to make sure we all answer the census.

Got the actual census today.   Waved at my neighbor as I got the mail.  Suspect she might be spying for the feds.   Saw a black helicopter nearby also, probably taking pictures of me as I checked the mail.

Looked over the census.  Want to know my age and race.  Obviously going to be used by FEMA for planning of federal internment camps for undesirables.  They aren't putting their bar code tattoos on me!  (mark of the beast!).

Must get back to work on digging my fortress under the trailer.  Will stock it with water, high speed internet, hydroponic garden and fast breeding guinea pigs for protein.....

Just finished filling mine out.

Question 5 asks about Hispanics.  It specifically says that Hispanic origin is not a race (for purposes of this survey) and that I am to answer questions 5 and 6.  Somoan classifies as a race, Hawaiian is a race, Alaskan is a race, why isn't Hispanic a race?

Question 6 asks for the race.  If Hispanic is not a race and a person is Hispanic, what race are they?  I couldn't find this information anywhere.  I ended up picking "white".  I'm absolutely positive my wife would not be even a little bit happy about being told she is white.

I'm guessing they're not a race so that white is in no danger of not being the racial majority... maybe.

EDIT:  I can see that Hawiians and Alaskans were once tribes of people, but Hispanic is an origin from a Spanish (or Portuguese) speaking nation in the Americas where many different tribes were located... maybe.

I read that a couple times as well.  I got the impression they might be trying to determine immigrants, perhaps, by specifying origin as opposed to race.  Also, I didn't see any check-box for races from any part of the Middle East... but there was a write-in section if you didn't happen to be one of the 10 or 20 races they did list.  So you didn't have to choose white if you aren't...  Tongue
