This was a very good book about a very smart
parrot. Irene Pepperberg talks about here trials and tribulations of getting research money, moving Alex, some insight into the social aspects of parrots. She shows just how much personality Alex had and how much fun she had working with him. She reveals how hard it was to try and maintain a distance for the sake of scientific research. When the book reached it end it was hard not to feel sorrow for her and Alex whom lived only to about 60% of his life expectancy. It was a nice easy read. To be honest, I didn't recall the stories about him, but recently I have taken a an interest in
conures. I rather doubt I would get a bird as a pet, but still they fascinate me for some reason. At least a 4 out of 5.
