Hey Bro, long time no see.  Sure wish I could make Austin this year, but alas, we're headed to NM for vacation in April.  Next year, I promise.

I have often wondered if you were still around out there in the wild web.  Good to see your bright shining Pink Ranger face.

Welcome aboard.

Yay!  I keep thinking about you, wondering how you're doing.  How's everything?

It's been a very eventful year. Switched jobs once, moved twice. We're currently & permanently in New Braunfels (south of Austin). I'm working in San Antonio (RAFB in fact) and my wife is working in Austin. It's a sometimes frustrating commute, but it keeps us available for opportunities all up and down the I-35 corridor. My lucky wife also gets to telecommute once a week - which will hopefully turn into twice/wk in a month or two.

We are really enjoying New Braunfels. It has a very strong German heritage and also the shortest river in the US - the comal. Entirely spring fed through the Edwards aquifer recharge zone (aka the Texas Hill Country). It's 70F year round - which makes it great for tubing Cheesy  and we live 1.5miles from Landa Park (much like Zilker in Austin, only groovier). For a more structured water experience, there is Schlitterbahn.

We moved into our last house evah in January after spending 4ever building it last summer/fall. Having never built before, it was more stressful than I was expecting. Wouldn't have been such a big deal but we're trying to anticipate our needs for the next 30 years as we are not moving again, nosiree. Having gone through the fun of renovating a "classic", I can honestly say I prefer building to renovating - simply because you don't have to live amongst the debris/noise. I think my wife has some house pics on the web somewhere. (send pm if you want a link to them)

Next Saturday we'll be celebrating the Often Annual JS Bach Birthday (observed) Chili Fest and, in this instance, housewarming party. I've even laid up some homebrew for the occasion. Y'all are welcome to swing by if you'll be in the central texas area - drop me a line for directions.

I wish we could come to the party.  I'd love to see your new digs but we've already planned a party for my son's birthday on Saturday.  Give us a little more notice next year, we'll be there.
