Colonel Thomas X. Hammes, USMC – The Sling and The Stone: On War In The 21st Century

This is a good book. If you have any interest in how our military works (or doesn’t work) then you should check this out. Hammes explains 4GW (4th Generation War) pretty well and offers many suggestions on how the American military should change to be better able to cope with 4GW.
Somebody like Colonel Hammes should be the Secretary of Defense instead of the slew of non-military people that have had the title over the years.
