The 13th Warrior

Posted by Dirk under: movies .

I remember going to the theater to see this when it came out, not expecting much, and coming out of the theater wanting to call all my buddies and tell them they had to get down to the El Rey and see this flick.

I love this movie.  It has everything a DnD playing, Robert E. Howard reading nerd like me could want in a movie and it does it all well.

Everytime I’ve watched it I get goosebumps during the final scene.

I love the LotR trilogy of movies too, but this one came first, was made for a lot less and won’t require a full day to watch.

Surprisingly, the book it was made from is garbage.  Really odd.  Crichton’s books are usually fun reads, but this one, gah, I couldn’t finish it.

You can see the climatic end of the movie here

Lo there do I see my father.
Lo there do I see my mother.
Lo there do I see my brothers and my sisters.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning.
Lo they do call to me;
they bid me take my place among them in the Halls of Valhalla,
where the brave may live forever.

One Comment so far...

Yeah, you turned me on to that movie. It is sitting in my dvd player as we speak. It never gets old, no matter how many times I see it.
